Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tong Po!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pooey Cheung !
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheung doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Po counters with an inside leg kick.
Cheung tries to clinch but Po is having none of it.
No luck for Cheung with that takedown attempt.
Po moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Pooey Cheung seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cheung is defended easily by Po.
Tong Po has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pooey Cheung .
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cheung .
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cheung with a lazy takedown attempt
and Po counters with an inside leg kick.
Cheung fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Po thumps Cheung with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Po enables Cheung to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Po manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cheung trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Po seems keen to control Cheung 's posture.
Po on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Po tries to get out of the position.
Cheung lands a couple of digs.
Cheung drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cheung jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cheung working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Po's head.
Cheung is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cheung throws a big elbow that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Po can't keep his opponent in guard - Cheung advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cheung passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Po!
Cheung working for a guillotine from mount but Po is in no mood to give up.
Po can't escape the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cheung swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
