PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Loc (ranked 4287 p4p, 4284 weight class) and Kili Coof (ranked 271 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Loc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kili Coof!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loc swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Loc throws a right and a left that Coof avoids nicely.

Loc closes the distance and clinches.
Coof tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Loc is trying to break free.
Coof prevents Loc from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coof drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Coof has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Loc is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jim Loc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kili Coof.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Coof has Loc pressed against the cage, preventing Loc from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Loc prevents a takedown attempt there.
Coof jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Loc walks away with a smile on his face. Coof gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kili Coof seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Coof throws a head kick that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Loc rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Coof moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Coof wants to clinch.
Coof throws a combination. Loc tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Some wild striking there from Loc.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Loc sizes up Coof with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Coof closes the distance and pushes Loc back into the cage.

Coof breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Coof throws a left and a right that both miss
and Loc counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Coof closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Coof moves into full mount!
Coof throwing strikes here but Loc is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Coof throws some wild stikes that Loc manages to avoid easily.
Coof tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Coof scoring with strikes but Loc is staying in there.
Loc really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coof trying to control but Loc is having none of it.
Coof controlling the pace for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kili Coof will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Coof tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Loc defends well and Coof ends up having to push Loc into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Loc closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Coof breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Coof tries to move into range but Loc moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Loc dives in and grabs Coof's left leg, looking for a takedown. Coof pushes down on Loc's head and hops out.
Coof is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Coof misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Coof rushes Loc and presses him up against the cage.

Loc is trying to push Coof away but Coof has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Coof breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Coof. Loc does a little dance to reset his feet.
As Coof looks to move away, Loc throws a big counter combo but Coof just gets out of the way.
Jim Loc is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Coof throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Loc was covering up waiting for the punch and Coof finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Loc is wriggling around but Coof manages to pass to half guard.

Coof performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Coof thows a huge punch but Loc dodges it nicely.
Coof has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Loc avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Coof.
Coof throws a strike but Loc avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Loc can't keep his opponent in guard - Coof advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Coof is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Coof throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Coof keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Coof is continuing to stall.

Coof is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Loc wants to control but Coof is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Coof thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Coof performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Loc misses with a wild combination.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Coof rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Loc moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Coof throws a shot from downtown. Loc moves away and avoids it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kili Coof showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Loc looks to clinch

so Coof counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Coof drops back, looking for a kneebar! Loc looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Loc looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Loc!

Loc controls the position.
Coof tries to bench press Loc off him but Loc keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Coof tries to escape but Loc is in control.
Loc is looking to take a break and control but Coof is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Loc working away.

Loc taking a breather here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coof is trying to buck Loc off.
Loc is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Coof's shoulder. That is not cool.
Loc trying to control the action but Coof is working from the bottom.
Coof is trying to control Loc's posture but Loc avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Coof fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Loc tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
As Loc backs off Coof throws a huge counter combo but Loc manages to avoid it all.
Loc fails with the takedown
and Coof connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Loc lands the left hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Coof fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Loc, pushing him back against the cage.
Coof has Loc pressed against the cage, preventing Loc from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Coof wants a takedown but no success here.
Loc wants to get back to striking at distance but Coof won't allow it.

Coof's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Loc rushes Coof and presses him up against the cage.

Coof breaks the clinch.

Coof fails with the takedown.
Jim Loc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kili Coof.
Loc moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Coof keeps the fight on the outside.
Loc moves out of range as Coof throws a body kick.
It looked like Loc was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Coof avoids a punch combination nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim Loc showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Coof has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
