Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kai Tokugawa (ranked 826 p4p, 918 weight class) and Clayton Daniels (ranked 113 p4p, 125 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kai Tokugawa! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clayton Daniels! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Daniels lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. A big right from Daniels misses. Tokugawa appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Daniels throws a right hand that misses
and Tokugawa counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Tokugawa takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Tokugawa thows a left - swing and a miss! Daniels gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Tokugawa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Clayton Daniels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Daniels shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tokugawa as he jumps to the side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daniels avoids a lazy jab quite easily. And Daniels tries to counter it with a takedown but Tokugawa pushes his down on his head and steps out. Daniels bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Daniels tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. My spies in Simply The Best inform me that Daniels has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Daniels tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Daniels has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Tokugawa tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Daniels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Tokugawa is being controlled here. Daniels tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Daniels trying to control the action but Tokugawa is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daniels throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Tokugawa is looking to reverse the position. Tokugawa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Daniels on the ground. Tokugawa defending against the ground and pound. Tokugawa's coaches at Takeda Clan Gym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Tokugawa managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Daniels.

Daniels is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Tokugawa is surviving well by controlling Daniels's body position as best he can. Daniels tries to control but Tokugawa wriggling away. Daniels might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tokugawa haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Daniels putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Daniels wants to control the pace but Tokugawa is squirming around nicely. It looked like Tokugawa was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Tokugawa tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Daniels darts in looking for a takedown but Tokugawa gets double underhooks and turns Daniels into the cage. Tokugawa steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Daniels. and Daniels decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tokugawa's guard. Daniels trying to control the position from guard on top but Tokugawa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Daniels stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tokugawa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tokugawa tries to bench press Daniels off him but Daniels keeps the position. Daniels advances to mount. Daniels trying to control but he's not successful this time. Daniels sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Daniels trying to control but Tokugawa is having none of it. Daniels goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Tokugawa is on top in guard.

Daniels is keeping the position for now. Tokugawa gets to his feet - Daniels follows without any prompting. Nice sprawl there from Tokugawa as Daniels shoots in. Daniels throws a shot from downtown. Tokugawa moves away and avoids it. Tokugawa swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Horrible takedown attempt by Daniels or perhaps it was just good defense by Tokugawa, which made it look bad. It looked like Tokugawa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Kai Tokugawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clayton Daniels.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sloppy strikes from Tokugawa. Those never looked like landing. Daniels changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Tokugawa throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Daniels counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Daniels wants to free his trapped foot but Tokugawa is holding on for dear life with his legs. Daniels is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tokugawa was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Kai Tokugawa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Daniels throws a head kick but Tokugawa moves out of range.
Clayton Daniels is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Tokugawa misses with a hook. Daniels ducked under it nicely. Daniels is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Daniels is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Daniels changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Daniels closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
