PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luka Marka (ranked 714 p4p, 1995 weight class) and Jim Beam (ranked 108 p4p, 294 weight class). Marka comes to the cage accompanied by HADES. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luka Marka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Beam!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beam throws a head kick but Marka moves out of range.
Beam throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Marka blocks a head kick by Beam.
Beam takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Luka Marka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marka bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Beam takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Marka jabs Beam to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Marka has been working on his boxing with his coaches at in shig we trust in the buildup to the fight.
Beam looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Marka misses with a body shot.
Beam throws a nice inside leg kick.
Marka takes a swing at Beam's ribcage but misses.
Beam throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Marka gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Beam takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Marka lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Beam at a distance.
Beam tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marka swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Beam throws a leg kick but Marka checks it.
Marka lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Marka is looking to wear down Beam with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Beam decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Marka avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Beam.

Beam throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Beam has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Beam drops back, looking for a kneebar! Marka looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Marka looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Marka!

Beam tries to bench press Marka off him but Marka keeps the position.
Beam looks to move to half guard but instead Marka has passed into mount! Damn!

Marka looking to control but Beam is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Beam is looking to improve his position but Marka isn't that keen on the idea.

That was a close round but I would say that Luka Marka will probably get the nod.
That's time! Marka's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jab, jab by Marka - just one landing.
Beam fails in his attempt to clinch.
Marka uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Beam.
Beam moves forwards but Marka connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Beam lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Beam misses with a hook. Marka ducked under it nicely.
Beam swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Marka swings for the body but Beam moves out of range.
Beam throws a head kick but Marka moves out of range.
Marka looks to score with a jab to the body but Beam is just out of range.
Marka is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Marka thuds a left hand into Beam's body.
Beam avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Beam tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Marka moves out of range as Beam strikes.
Marka is looking to counter punch.
Marka with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Beam to score with a decent uppercut.
Marka misses with a body shot.
Beam throws out a counter right but Marka avoids it with no problem.
Marka fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Beam moves out of range as Marka strikes.

Beam closes the distance and clinches.

Marka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Marka throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Beam avoids the body shot from Marka.
Beam scores with a nice right hand.
Luka Marka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Beam misses with a looping left.
Beam lands a nice shot that snaps Marka's head back.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Marka tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Beam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Marka looks to score with a jab to the body but Beam is just out of range.
Luka Marka is winning the standup battle so far.
Beam throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A jab from Beam misses.
Marka connects with a good right hand that stumbles Beam. Beam circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Marka throws a big shot that misses.
Marka throws a body punch but Beam moves out of range.
Beam throws a head kick but Marka moves out of range.
Marka jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Marka gets caught napping as Beam dives in and scores a takedown. Marka manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marka seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Beam thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Beam slips a nice elbow through Marka's hands, connecting with Marka's forehead.

Beam pushes down on Marka's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Beam seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Beam thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Marka's head.

Beam is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marka doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beam.
Beam slips a nice elbow through Marka's hands, connecting with Marka's forehead.

Jim Beam showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Beam closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Marka regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Beam.
Beam throws a strike but Marka rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Marka has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Marka content to stall in guard here.
Marka wants to control from the top but Beam keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beam looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marka is one step ahead there.

Beam throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Marka escapes and throws Beam's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Marka prevents Beam from improving his position.

Beam is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Beam is striking from the bottom but Marka uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Beam is looking for a sweep. Marka is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Luka Marka.
I think Marka has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
