This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Ryoto Takahashi! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 6 losses; John Lee! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lee has taken the fight to the clinch.
Takahashi jumps into guard, dragging Lee to the mat.

Lee might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Takahashi haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Lee seems keen to control Takahashi's posture.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Lee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Takahashi being controlled here momentarily. Takahashi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lee wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Lee is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lee content to control rather than advance. It looks like Lee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Takahashi actively working from the bottom here.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Takahashi is pressing down on Lee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Lee is stalling in the full guard. Takahashi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Takahashi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Lee stands and throws Takahashi's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Takahashi (4) vs (5) Lee Takahashi tries to buck Lee off but Lee is having none of it. Lee controlling the position from side mount.
