This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Ross Nyland!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Palamo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nyland.
Nyland changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Palamo tries to avoid it but Nyland manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Palamo to the ground. Palamo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Palamo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Palamo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Nyland sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Palamo seems to be looking for submissions.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nyland tries to roll over but Palamo keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Palamo in particular looking to stall.

Palamo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nyland is just riding it out for now. Palamo eventually gives up the hold.
Nyland really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Palamo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nyland is trying to control but can't.

Palamo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Palamo has hold of Nyland's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nyland manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Palamo is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Palamo extends the arm and Nyland is forced to tap!
