Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Xon HiChi (ranked 2612 p4p, 2798 weight class) and Hirata Hitoshi (ranked 333 p4p, 350 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Xon HiChi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hirata Hitoshi!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hitoshi avoids the body shot from HiChi.
Hitoshi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
HiChi definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
HiChi lands with a good body shot.
Hitoshi misses with a body shot
and HiChi counters with a left to the body.
HiChi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
HiChi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
HiChi lands an overhand right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
HiChi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
A big right from Hitoshi misses.

and Hitoshi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and HiChi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
HiChi moves out of range of the strikes.
It looked like HiChi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
HiChi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts HiChi, as that shot connected.
HiChi digs a good hook to Hitoshi's body.
HiChi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hitoshi doesn't manage to clinch there - HiChi circles away.
Hitoshi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
HiChi lunges at Hitoshi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hitoshi's hand.

HiChi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
HiChi scores with a jab. Hitoshi acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A left and a right from HiChi both land. Nice combination.
HiChi swings for the body but Hitoshi moves out of range.
And Hitoshi tries to counter it with a takedown but HiChi pushes his down on his head and steps out.

HiChi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hitoshi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
HiChi connects with a body shot that sends Hitoshi's belly button to the back.

Hitoshi misses with a hook
and HiChi counters with a nice uppercut.
HiChi scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
HiChi darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
HiChi connects with a looping right hand.
Hitoshi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

enabling HiChi to counter with a crisp jab.
Xon HiChi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hirata Hitoshi.

HiChi connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Hitoshi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
HiChi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by HiChi.
Hitoshi wants to clinch up but HiChi keeps it at a distance.
HiChi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hitoshi momentarily.
Hitoshi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but HiChi was well out of range. Poor timing from Hitoshi.
A jab lands there for HiChi.
The fighters circle momentarily. HiChi darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Hitoshi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by HiChi.
HiChi is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Nice shot lands for HiChi.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xon HiChi dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

HiChi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hitoshi doesn't seem bothered though.
Xon HiChi is winning the standup battle so far.
HiChi swats away the attempt to clinch by Hitoshi.
HiChi lunges at Hitoshi with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hitoshi's hand.
HiChi works the jab nicely.

Nice uppercut lands for HiChi. That snapped Hitoshi's head back.
Xon HiChi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
HiChi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hitoshi tries to close the distance and clinch up but HiChi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
HiChi slaps away a takedown attempt from Hitoshi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
HiChi is looking to counter punch.
HiChi misses the shot to the body.

HiChi ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Hitoshi ducks right into an uppercut from HiChi.
Hitoshi has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Hitoshi is looking to clinch but HiChi is avoiding it.

Hitoshi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

HiChi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hitoshi can do to turn this around?

HiChi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hitoshi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hitoshi is in close to HiChi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hitoshi throwing strikes from guard but HiChi blocks nicely.
Hitoshi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
HiChi is adopting a defensive guard.
HiChi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hitoshi on the ground.
Hitoshi is working HiChi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Hitoshi works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hitoshi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hitoshi lands a nice short elbow.
HiChi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if HiChi tries to get out of the position.
Hitoshi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

It looks like Xon HiChi has been cut.
Hitoshi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hitoshi drops an elbow to the side of HiChi's head.

HiChi is rocked!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hitoshi connects with a nice short shot to HiChi's temple.
Oh HiChi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hitoshi lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Hitoshi lands a big elbow - HiChi is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Hitoshi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hirata Hitoshi!

During a confident post fight interview, Hirata Hitoshi thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
