Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Harley Bird (ranked 4982 p4p, 6524 weight class) and Vernik Dahl (ranked 578 p4p, 674 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vernik Dahl!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dahl shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bird napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dahl wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bird keeps working.

Dahl tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Bird regains half guard.
Bird is trying to control but can't.
Dahl wants to pass to mount but Bird is defending the position.

Bird looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bird looking for subs from the bottom but Dahl mounts him!

Bird prevents Dahl from taking his back.

Dahl jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bird is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bird and Dahl has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Bird has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Dahl is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bird has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bird trying his best to control but Dahl has mounted him.
Bird is working to get back to half guard.
My spies in Cozad MMA Helsinki inform me that Dahl has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Dahl can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bird is looking to escape.
Bird knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dahl on the ground.
Dahl wants to take his opponent's back but Bird doesn't allow it.
Dahl trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dahl forces the positional change into back control.
Bird might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bird tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Dahl throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Bird has his hands clasped together but Dahl breaks the hold and Bird is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Dahl!
