Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin McGuire (ranked 1934 p4p, 1038 weight class) and Kokkoro Kirin (ranked 95 p4p, 50 weight class). McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin McGuire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kokkoro Kirin!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirin chopping away at his opponent's legs.

McGuire cracks Kirin with a big right hand and Kirin goes down!

It looks like Kokkoro Kirin has been cut.
Kirin is trying to keep McGuire in close.
McGuire postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kirin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from McGuire.
McGuire passes Kirin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kirin tries to roll over but McGuire keeps him under control.
McGuire wants to control but Kirin is keeping him busy.

McGuire is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kirin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McGuire.
McGuire tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kirin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

McGuire seems to be looking for submissions.
McGuire misses with a head shot. Kirin uses the momentum to regain guard.
McGuire is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
McGuire wants to pass the guard but Kirin is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGuire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
McGuire controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

McGuire postures up in Kirin's guard and throws a big left but Kirin blocks it.
McGuire cracks Kirin with a solid left hand.
McGuire trying to control the position from guard on top but Kirin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McGuire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
McGuire with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

McGuire landing some decent shots from guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGuire accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kirin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
McGuire looking to pass the guard.
Kirin keeping moving, preventing McGuire from controlling successfully.
McGuire controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kirin wants to sweep here but McGuire controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
McGuire throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kirin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kirin throws a wild body kick that McGuire sees coming a mile off.

McGuire clinches.
McGuire tries to throw a body punch but Kirin avoids it by throwing McGuire back against the cage.
A short right from McGuire on the inside.
McGuire goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
McGuire misses with a hook to the ribs.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

McGuire working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A short uppercut from McGuire.
Kirin lands a nice uppercut.

McGuire blocking some punches.
Kirin trying to stall but McGuire improves his position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Kirin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The crowd cheers as McGuire lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kirin doesn't seem phased though.
McGuire throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McGuire lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kirin takes a step back to recover.
McGuire with a nice calf kick.

Kirin gets caught napping as McGuire dives in and scores a takedown. Kirin manages to retain guard.
Kirin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
McGuire is looking to advance position but Kirin has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kirin avoids the attempt from McGuire to control.
McGuire has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kirin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McGuire regains half guard.
Kirin works his way into full mount!
McGuire holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kirin tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Kirin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, McGuire has worked his arm free - good work by McGuire!
Kirin misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

McGuire is trying to control Kirin's posture but Kirin avoids it.

Kirin stands up and beckons McGuire to his feet.
McGuire with a poor takedown
and Kirin counters with a left to the body.
McGuire throws out a leg kick but Kirin moves out of range and McGuire only half commits.
Kirin throws an ugly left hook that misses
and McGuire counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
McGuire throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
It seemed like Kirin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
McGuire throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kirin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A little jabbing left from Kirin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kokkoro Kirin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McGuire misses with a jab to the body
and Kirin counters with a slapping leg kick.
McGuire has a takedown stuffed.
McGuire is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kirin can do to turn this around?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kirin takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kirin connects with the punch.
Kirin throws a leg kick that is checked
and McGuire counters with a straight right hand.
McGuire misses with a hook
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
McGuire misses with an uppercut. Kirin saw that one coming.
The fight stays on the outside here - McGuire looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGuire dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kirin. That did some damage!
McGuire tries to clinch there but Kirin circles away.
Kirin let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
McGuire just misses with a punch to the body.
Kirin misses with an uppercut.
A quick step to the side and McGuire tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
McGuire thumps Kirin with a low kick.
McGuire throws a head kick but Kirin moves out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kirin! But no joy.
Kirin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Kirin swings widly with a right hand
and McGuire counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGuire is looking to score with low kicks.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin McGuire dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Kokkoro Kirin's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

McGuire scoring well with a low kick there.
A chopping leg kick lands by McGuire.
McGuire uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
McGuire staying out of range there.
McGuire throws a poor cross that misses
and Kirin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McGuire connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
McGuire fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kirin avoids it really well and circles away.
Kevin McGuire is winning the standup battle so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kirin throws a hook but McGuire avoids it easily.

Kirin throws an off balance right hand
and McGuire counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kirin thinking.

McGuire drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kirin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McGuire fails to land a wild elbow strike.

McGuire tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McGuire has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kirin is trying to control McGuire's posture but McGuire avoids it.
An elbow from McGuire crashes against the mat.

Kirin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGuire has hold of Kirin's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kirin tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - McGuire cranks the arm and Kirin screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kirin, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Kevin McGuire!
A very excited looking Kevin McGuire made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
