Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jhonny Lait (ranked 4640 p4p, 5489 weight class) and Craig Barns (ranked 91 p4p, 96 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jhonny Lait!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Barns!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barns slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lait is defended easily by Barns.
Barns tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Barns shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lait defends it nicely.
Lait fails to land the takedown.

Barns has closed the distance and engaged Lait in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Come on Lait - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Lait tries to circle away but Barns has him pinned against the cage.
Lait prevents the takedown attempt.

Lait's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lait rushes Barns and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barns is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Lait is trying to pull guard but Barns turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Lait goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Barns wants to take the fight to the mat but Lait manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Barns wants to get back to striking at distance but Lait won't allow it.

Barns lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Barns content to control rather than advance.

Lait looking for submissions off his back.

Barns seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lait trying to hold on to Barns's head to control him but Barns postures up.
Barns wants to take a breather but Lait is having none of it.

Barns tries for a takedown but Lait sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lait tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barns swivels and escapes.

Barns tries to buck Lait off but Lait is having none of it.
Lait tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Lait tries for a kimura but Barns is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Barns's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Barns is looking for a sweep.
Lait trying to control the action but Barns is working from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Barns struggling a bit here.
Jhonny Lait overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lait landing strikes.

Barns is looking for a sweep.
Barns is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lait connects with a decent elbow.

Barns tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Lait easily slips into full mount!

Lait moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Barns has worked his arm free - good work by Barns!
Barns regains half guard.

Barns has his hands clasped together around Lait's back. He's all about the action.

Barns is looking for a sweep. Lait is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Barns is trying to maintain the position but Lait is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lait is looking for a kimura here.
Barns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lait. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lait thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Barns's head.
Barns punching from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nice takedown defense from Lait. No joy for Barns on that attempt.
Lait shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barns pinned against the cage. Barns gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Barns throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lait escapes and throws Barns's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Barns is trying to control Lait's posture but Lait avoids it.
Barns is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lait's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Lait is trying to control the action in half guard but Barns is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lait is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barns has managed to free his arm - good work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Barns throws some strikes from the bottom but Lait isn't bothered - he's working on a kimura... it looks tight... it is! Barns is tapping and screaming like a little girl! Ouch, that looks painful! Good win for Lait!
