PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Bar (ranked 1721 p4p, 2009 weight class) and Bob Crawley (ranked 232 p4p, 276 weight class). Crawley has chosen Barbarian Overlords - The Ambassador as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Crawley's guard. Crawley trying to control the position.
Bar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Crawley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Crawley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bar is controlling him. Crawley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Bar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Crawley looking for a sweep. Not yet Crawley, not yet. Bar throws a big elbow that misses. Bar passes Crawley's left leg - he's now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Crawley keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Crawley has managed to free his arm - good work. Bar has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Crawley defend it? Bar steps over the head and cranks it - Crawley is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Bar!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jonny Bar!
