PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Sins (ranked 4754 p4p, 4692 weight class) and Roman Abramovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Sins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roman Abramovich!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abramovich slaps away a takedown attempt from Sins, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Abramovich drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sins tries to buck Abramovich off but Abramovich is having none of it.
Sins is not content to let Abramovich control the position.
Abramovich wants to stand but Sins has his arm trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abramovich happy to just control the position for now.
Sins can't do much from the bottom here.

Sins pushes Abramovich away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Abramovich gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Abramovich scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Sins to see if he's OK.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abramovich's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Abramovich jabs Sins to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Abramovich shoots in and gets a takedown into Sins's guard.
Sins keeping moving, preventing Abramovich from controlling successfully.

Sins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abramovich can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abramovich wants to control from the top but Sins keeps moving.
Sins tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Abramovich has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sins is proving hard to escape from.
Abramovich not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Abramovich wants to pass the guard but Sins is keeping the position.
Abramovich must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Abramovich ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Abramovich closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sins's guard.
Abramovich's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Abramovich fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sins, pushing him back against the cage.

Sins breaks the clinch.

Abramovich feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Abramovich doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Abramovich manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Abramovich seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Abramovich stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sins swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Abramovich has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Abramovich is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Roman Abramovich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Abramovich has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
