PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon Panek (ranked 0 p4p, 2441 weight class) and Je Ha Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 335 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Simon Panek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Je Ha Kim!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Panek misses the target.
Kim is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Kim lands a nice shot that snaps Panek's head back.
Kim lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Panek misses with a hook
and Kim counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Panek throws a poor cross that misses
and Panek takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Panek looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kim is fending him off so far but Panek persists. Nope, Kim circles away and we're back to standing.
As Panek backs off Kim throws a huge counter combo but Panek manages to avoid it all.
Panek misses with an uppercut
and Kim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Simon Panek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kim connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Panek momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Panek. Kim does a little dance to reset his feet.
Panek throws an off balance right hand
and Kim counters with a one-two to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Panek rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kim counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Panek takes one to the side of the head.
Panek takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Panek ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kim moves away.
Panek sets himself, and Kim steps forward looking for the clinch! Panek avoids it this time.
Panek tries for a takedown but Kim circles away easily
and Kim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kim bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Panek's head.
Kim swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Panek throws an off balance right hand
and Kim connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Panek looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Panek misses with a left hand

and Kim counters with a crisp right hand that drops Panek! Kim lets Panek back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Panek is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kim cracks Panek with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Oh Panek is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Panek ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kim moves away.
Panek definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kim is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Panek had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Kim scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Panek seems to have got his legs back now.
Panek throws a body shot but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kim lands with a straight right. Panek didn't see that one coming.
Panek tries for a takedown but Kim circles away easily
and Panek takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Panek. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kim cracks Panek with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Panek tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Kim pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Panek is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Je Ha Kim!
A relieved looking Je Ha Kim thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
