Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Cooper (ranked 4409 p4p, 4458 weight class) and Richard Morrison (ranked 396 p4p, 0 weight class). Richard Morrison has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Cooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Morrison! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morrison throws a series of strikes that have Cooper backpedaling.
Morrison throws a leg kick and Cooper counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Morrison wants to get back to his feet but Cooper is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Morrison keeping moving, preventing Cooper from controlling successfully. Cooper content to stall in guard here. Cooper seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Morrison for as long as he can get away with. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morrison is controlling Cooper's posture. Cooper content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Morrison manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cooper has Morrison in his guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cooper is on top in guard.
Morrison wants to sweep here but Cooper controlling him for the moment. Morrison keeping full guard, as Cooper tries to pass. Cooper throwing strikes but missing. Cooper lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper wants to control from the top but Morrison keeps moving. Cooper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Morrison can't keep his opponent in guard - Cooper advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cooper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cooper is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Cooper is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Morrison sees it coming and defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cooper trying to control from half guard but Morrison is working away. Cooper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Morrison! Cooper jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Morrison is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Morrison and Cooper has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Cooper looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cooper works to advance to full mount. Morrison defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Morrison really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cooper jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Morrison is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Morrison and Cooper has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Cooper working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cooper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morrison knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Morrison manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cooper's best efforts. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
John Cooper dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Morrison slaps away a takedown attempt from Cooper, before circling back to the center of the mat. Cooper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morrison as he jumps to the side. Cooper shoots in looking for a takedown. Morrison tries to sprawl out of it but Cooper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Morrison manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Cooper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cooper keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Morrison throws a leg kick that misses. Cooper takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Cooper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Morrison stalks Cooper and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cooper's face. Cooper staggers backwards, shaken. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cooper shoots in but no luck this time. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Morrison, as that shot connected.
Cooper misses with a series of wild punches.
Morrison is looking to chop away at Cooper's legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper looks for a takedown but Morrison sprawls well. Morrison cracks a nice hook into Cooper's ribs. Morrison scores with a shot to the body.
Morrison connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cooper. Cooper circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Richard Morrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Morrison moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Cooper shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Morrison pinned against the cage. Morrison gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Cooper on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Cooper takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Cooper drops his hands momentarily and Morrison takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooper takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Morrison scores with a jab to the body. John Cooper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Morrison thows a leg kick but Cooper checks it and Cooper counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Cooper is looking for a kimura here.
Cooper is working for a kimura here but Morrison manages to reverse the position and he's now in Cooper's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cooper is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Morrison defends well. Morrison trying to control but Cooper is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Morrison is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Cooper is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cooper is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Morrison is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Morrison wants to pass the guard but Cooper is keeping the position. Cooper keeping moving, preventing Morrison from controlling successfully. Morrison works a leg free and moves into half guard. Cooper is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Morrison's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Morrison's back! Cooper is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morrison defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Cooper's arms. Morrison tries to break free.
Cooper just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Cooper has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Morrison! Can he survive? No! He's out! Cooper gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
