Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cory Ashby (ranked 25310 p4p, 5715 weight class) and Walker Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Cory Ashby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walker Peters!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ashby is fending him off so far but Peters persists. Nope, Ashby circles away and we're back to standing.

Ashby has closed the distance and engaged Peters in a clinch.
Come on Ashby - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Peters is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Peters stalling in the clinch but Ashby improves position.
Peters wants to get back to striking at distance but Ashby won't allow it.
Peters tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ashby's elbow.
Ashby gets underhooks to prevent Peters's takedown attempt.
Peters is trying to drag Ashby to the mat but Ashby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cory Ashby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walker Peters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peters tries to pull guard but Ashby won't allow it.
Ashby is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Peters is defending well.
Peters stalling in the clinch but Ashby improves position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peters changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ashby fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ashby stuffs the takedown attempt from Peters. Peters gets slowly back to his feet.
Ashby went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Ashby doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Ashby shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ashby really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ashby is standing up over Peters. Peters looks to escape but Ashby dives into side control.

Ashby stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ashby closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Peters to the mat! Peters manages to get full guard.
Peters wants to stand but Ashby is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ashby is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ashby will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Ashby decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Peters digs a good body shot into Ashby's ribs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ashby throws a head kick but Peters moves out of range.
Peters shoots and misses
and Ashby counters with a nice uppercut.
Peters throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ashby.
Ashby swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Peters counters with a left and a right that stings Ashby.
Ashby misses with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peters tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ashby paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ashby shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ashby showed some decent athleticism there.
Peters scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Ashby manages to mount him!

Peters reaches up to try and pull Ashby in and control his posture, but Ashby latches on to an arm and pivots quickly for an armbar! Peters taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cory Ashby!
