PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yamapi Chan (ranked 3121 p4p, 4718 weight class) and Billy Badazz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yamapi Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Badazz!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badazz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chan is fending him off so far but Badazz persists. Nope, Chan circles away and we're back to standing.

Chan moves into the clinch successfully.
Chan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Chan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Chan with a flurry of punches that miss.
Chan tries to free his leg and advance position but Badazz is retaining full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Badazz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chan tries to avoid it but Badazz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chan to the ground. Chan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Yamapi Chan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Billy Badazz.

Chan manages to break the clinch.
Badazz shoots for a double leg takedown but Chan sprawls well. He's pushed Badazz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Chan darts in and clinches Badazz up against the cage.
Chan lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Badazz backwards.
Chan lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Badazz.

Chan tightens his grip and picks Badazz up, before dumping him to the ground. Badazz manages to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Chan gets to his feet - Badazz follows without any prompting.
Donk. Chan catches Badazz right on the button with a cross.

Chan shoots in and gets a takedown into Badazz's guard.
Badazz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chan controls the pace.
Chan wants to pass the guard but Badazz is keeping the position.
Badazz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chan is controlling him.
Chan is stalling in the full guard.

Chan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Chan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Badazz defends it nicely.
As Chan backs off Badazz throws a huge counter combo but Chan manages to avoid it all.
Chan looks to land a combination but Badazz avoids it well.

Badazz tries to keep at a distance but Chan has taken the fight into the clinch.
Badazz has had enough of the clinch but Chan keeps him there for the moment.

Chan works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Chan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Chan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Chan advances position into side control!
Chan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Badazz shoots for a takedown but Chan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Chan takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Badazz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Chan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Badazz to the mat. Badazz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Chan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Chan wants it to stay on the feet.

Chan throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

It looked like Chan was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Chan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Badazz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Well Chan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
