Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liu Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hempii Sapponen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Liu Kang has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Liu Kang! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hempii Sapponen! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sapponen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kang tries to avoid it but Sapponen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kang to the ground. Kang escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sapponen gets a takedown into half guard. Sapponen is looking to advance position but Kang won't allow it. Sapponen uses his free foot to push down on Kang's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kang. Kang is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Sapponen wants to finish this one by submission but Kang is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sapponen. Kang could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sapponen working for a guillotine from mount but Kang is in no mood to give up. Kang is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sapponen has control of Kang's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kang regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kang is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sapponen misses with a head shot. Kang is trying to get back to his feet but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sapponen with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Sapponen looks gassed! Sapponen lands a big shot there that rocks Kang but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Kang is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Sapponen working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Kang looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Sapponen! Submission of the night perhaps?
