Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Cory Ashby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Burrows!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burrows fails to land the takedown.
Ashby blocks a head kick by Burrows.
Ashby tries to clinch there but Burrows circles away.
Burrows looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Ashby darts in looking for a takedown but Burrows gets double underhooks and turns Ashby into the cage.
Burrows wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Burrows displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ashby up against the cage.
Ashby fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ashby wants the takedown. Burrows is fighting it off but Ashby persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Burrows's guard against the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Burrows is controlling Ashby's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Ashby wants to control but Burrows is keeping him busy.
Burrows really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ashby. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burrows tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ashby swivels and escapes.

Burrows gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Ashby really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Ashby stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ashby wants it to stay on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Burrows enables Ashby to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Burrows manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burrows can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ashby will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Burrows has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ashby is working away from the top position though.

Burrows goes for a takedown attempt but Ashby pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Burrows tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ashby smiles and moves away.

Burrows tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ashby defends well and Burrows ends up having to push Ashby into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cory Ashby.
I think Burrows has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
