Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Van Driesen (ranked 3863 p4p, 3358 weight class) and Charles Sobhraj (ranked 210 p4p, 183 weight class). Sobhraj has chosen hurragutt as his entrance music. Van Driesen could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Charles Sobhraj's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Van Driesen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charles Sobhraj! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Driesen walks into a left hand. Sobhraj throws out a loose jab but Driesen uses good head movement to avoid it. Driesen tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Sobhraj manages to circle out of the way. Driesen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sobhraj. Driesen dodges the punch combination from Sobhraj.
Sobhraj throws a right and a left that both miss. Driesen scores with a shot to the body.
Driesen just misses with a punch to the body.
Driesen with a lazy takedown attempt and Sobhraj counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Charles Sobhraj seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sobhraj darts in looking for a takedown but Driesen gets double underhooks and turns Sobhraj into the cage. Driesen wants to slow Sobhraj down by chopping away at his legs. Sobhraj looks like he wants to counter punch here. Driesen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sobhraj throws a lazy right hand but Driesen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Driesen is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Sobhraj. Sobhraj doesn't succeed with the takedown and Driesen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Driesen. Driesen lands a body shot in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Driesen leaning his opponent against the cage. Sobhraj jumps guard but Driesen stands there with Sobhraj around his waist. Sobhraj gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Van Driesen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles Sobhraj. Driesen misses with a hook to the ribs.
Driesen swings wildly with an uppercut but Sobhraj uses good head movement to avoid it. Driesen will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Sobhraj up against the cage. Sobhraj misses with a hook from the clinch. Driesen controlling the action here for a moment.
Driesen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sobhraj's elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Driesen is pushing Sobhraj up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Sobhraj goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Sobhraj lands an uppercut. Sobhraj told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Driesen takes a shot to the head. Sobhraj misses with a short punch on the inside. Driesen tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Driesen blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Sobhraj is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Sobhraj has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Driesen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Driesen displaying some good clinch control by pressing Sobhraj up against the cage. Driesen has Sobhraj pushed against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sobhraj fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Sobhraj has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Driesen is trying to keep an underhook but Sobhraj manages to get the takedown into half guard. Sobhraj wants to pass the guard but Driesen is defending well. Driesen works his way to full guard. Good work. Sobhraj trying to control but Driesen is working from the bottom. Driesen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sobhraj's guard. Driesen advances position into side control! Sobhraj is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Driesen off and has taken his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Driesen's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Sobhraj has got one arm under Driesen's chin. This could be trouble... Driesen trying to control the other hand but Sobhraj gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Driesen has tapped out! The fight is over!
