PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sss Sss (ranked 6574 p4p, 24429 weight class) and Sss Sss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sss Sss acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sss Sss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sss Sss!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Fighter A is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fighter B sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And Fighter B responds with a good body kick, but Fighter A manages to step out the way in time.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fighter A sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Fighter A gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fighter B stands up from Fighter A's guard - Fighter B perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter A gets double underhooks and turns Fighter B into the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fighter A enables Fighter B to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fighter A manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A pulls Fighter B in close to his closed guard and prevents Fighter B from doing any damage or advancing position.

Fighter B gets to his feet - Fighter A follows without any prompting.
Fighter A closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fighter B circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fighter A stuffs the takedown attempt from Fighter B. Fighter B gets slowly back to his feet.
Fighter B tries for a takedown but Fighter A sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fighter A throws a counter high kick but Fighter B was just alert enough to avoid it.
Sss Sss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sss Sss.

Fighter A shoots in and gets a takedown into Fighter B's guard.
Fighter B can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fighter A controls the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fighter A is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Fighter A gets caught napping as Fighter B dives in and scores a takedown. Fighter A manages to retain guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter A pulls Fighter B in close to prevent any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sss Sss dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Nice takedown defense from Fighter A. No joy for Fighter B on that attempt.
Fighter A was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Fighter A shoots in but Fighter B avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fighter A is defended easily by Fighter B.
Fighter B looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fighter B but Fighter B pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sss Sss. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fighter A shoots in but Fighter B avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fighter A gets caught flat footed, as Fighter B shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter B would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Fighter A pulls Fighter B in close to prevent any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B wants to stand but Fighter A is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fighter A is pulling down on Fighter B's head. It's preventing any offense from Fighter B, at least for the moment.
Fighter B looking to sit in guard and control but Fighter A gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fighter B wants to stand and escape but Fighter A is having none of it.
Fighter A is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Fighter A dives in and scores a takedown into Fighter B's guard.
Fighter B is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Fighter A dives into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sss Sss will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Fighter A with a poor takedown
and Fighter B counters with a series of strikes. Fighter A will be more careful next time no doubt.
Fighter B moves out of range of the body kick from Fighter A.
Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well.
Horrible takedown attempt by Fighter B or perhaps it was just good defense by Fighter A, which made it look bad.

Fighter A tries for a takedown but Fighter B sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well.
Fighter A tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fighter B defends well and Fighter A ends up having to push Fighter B into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Fighter B follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sss Sss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fighter A's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fighter A fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Fighter A closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fighter B's guard.
Fighter B is looking to stand up but Fighter A isn't so interested in that idea.
Fighter B is looking to stand back up but Fighter A counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Fighter B.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fighter A dives in and grabs Fighter B's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fighter B pushes down on Fighter A's head and hops out.
Fighter B throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fighter A's waist but Fighter A gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fighter B off to one side.
A counter left hand to the body from Fighter A misses its target.

Fighter A closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fighter A lands in his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sss Sss.
I think Fighter A has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
