PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Kettlestone (ranked 5517 p4p, 5088 weight class) and Manny Paiwia (ranked 516 p4p, 498 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Kettlestone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manny Paiwia!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paiwia shoots in and gets a takedown into Kettlestone's guard.
Paiwia engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Let's hope that Paiwia has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Paiwia scoring with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paiwia not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kettlestone looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kettlestone wants to stand but Paiwia is controlling the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Kettlestone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Paiwia flicks out a counter leg kick but Kettlestone steps away.
Kettlestone lands a nice looking kick to the body. Paiwia takes a step back to recover.
Paiwia has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kettlestone.

Paiwia gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Paiwia tries to work over Kettlestone's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Paiwia turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Paiwia manages to end up in side control.
Kettlestone tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Kettlestone looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Paiwia lands a big shot there that rocks Kettlestone but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paiwia cracks Kettlestone with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Paiwia might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kettlestone is desperately trying to improve his position but Paiwia has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kettlestone slips a jab from Paiwia.

Paiwia moves into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Kettlestone's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Paiwia scores with a nice hook to the head.
Kettlestone blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Paiwia tries to land knees in the clinch but Kettlestone avoids the damage to the body.

Paiwia is trying to trip Kettlestone. He has hold of a leg but Kettlestone is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Paiwia persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kettlestone is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paiwia controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Paiwia is pushing down on Kettlestone's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kettlestone is fighting to maintain full guard but Paiwia has managed to sneak the leg through.
Paiwia is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've been informed that Paiwia has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Kettlestone wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kettlestone is looking to control Paiwia's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kettlestone avoid being mounted?
Well, if Paiwia is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Kettlestone is looking for a sweep. Paiwia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Paiwia tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Paiwia is continuing to stall.

Paiwia working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Kettlestone turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Paiwia off and cradles Kettlestone's limp body as Paiwia celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Manny Paiwia!
An out of breath Manny Paiwia thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
