PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grigoriy Petrov (ranked 635 p4p, 1050 weight class) and Rasmus Reedtz (ranked 94 p4p, 143 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Grigoriy Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rasmus Reedtz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov slips a jab from Reedtz.
Petrov wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Petrov thuds his shin into the meat of Reedtz's side.

Reedtz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Petrov to the mat! Petrov manages to get full guard.
Petrov is controlling Reedtz's posture.
Petrov has momentary wrist control but Reedtz slips an elbow through the middle.
Petrov has control of Reedtz's left arm, preventing Reedtz from doing any damage.
Reedtz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reedtz is working Petrov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Reedtz throws an elbow that misses. Petrov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reedtz's guard. Nice move by Petrov!

Petrov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Reedtz controls Petrov momentarily but Petrov frees himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Reedtz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Petrov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Reedtz looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Petrov puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Reedtz is looking for a sweep. Petrov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Reedtz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Petrov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Petrov's back!

Petrov is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Ice Cream Parlour, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

My spies in Rasmus's Fun House inform me that Reedtz has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Reedtz wants to control but Petrov is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petrov covering up well and avoiding damage.

Reedtz somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reedtz has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Petrov is defending well but eventually Reedtz manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Petrov has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rasmus Reedtz!
Rasmus Reedtz gave a mention to Urban Fighter in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
