Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Dungey (ranked 1821 p4p, 2475 weight class) and Jason Dawkins (ranked 247 p4p, 325 weight class). Jason Dawkins has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Dungey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Dawkins!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dungey blocks the body kick.
Dawkins throws a hook but Dungey avoids it easily.
Dungey throwing a counter right hand but Dawkins manages to avoid it.
Dawkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dawkins lands a leg kick that knocks Dungey off balance momentarily.
Dawkins tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dungey was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

and Dawkins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Dawkins misses with an uppercut. Dungey saw that one coming.

Dawkins has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dungey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dungey wants it to stay on the feet.

As Dawkins backs away, Dungey returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Dawkins fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dungey manages to avoid it.

Dawkins throws a hook but Dungey avoids it easily.

As Dawkins looks to move away, Dungey throws a big counter combo but Dawkins just gets out of the way.
A solid leg kick lands there for Dawkins.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dawkins darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Dawkins scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Dungey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dawkins tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dungey wants to stand but Dawkins is controlling his arm.

Dungey gets to mount! Dawkins was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Dawkins wants to hold on but Dungey pushes him away.

Dawkins tries to lock up and control but Dungey gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Dungey tries to stand and escape but Dawkins is controlling the position.

Dawkins is trying to hold Dungey in close to prevent damage but Dungey has managed to pass into half guard.
Dungey wants to get back to his feet.

Dawkins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dungey is working away from the top position though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Dungey counters with a stiff right hand.

Dawkins throws a low kick, looking for Dungey's leg but Dungey calmly moves out of range.

Dungey appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Dawkins lands a leg kick that knocks Dungey off balance momentarily.
Jason Dawkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dungey throws out a loose jab but Dawkins uses good head movement to avoid it.

Dawkins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dungey uses from the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like Jason Dawkins has been cut.

The crowd cheers as Dawkins lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dungey doesn't seem phased though.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Dungey lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dawkins has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dawkins and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Dawkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Dawkins feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Dungey has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dawkins off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Dawkins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dungey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dawkins somewhat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Dungey connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Dawkins dives in for a single leg takedown but Dungey sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Dawkins throws a strike but Dungey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dawkins is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dungey postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Dawkins is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dungey defends well.
Dawkins takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dungey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dawkins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dungey is staying active underneath Dawkins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Dawkins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dungey is just riding it out for now. Dawkins eventually gives up the hold.

Dawkins slips a nice elbow through Dungey's hands, connecting with Dungey's forehead.
Dawkins is keen to just control but Dungey is a slippery customer.
Dawkins stops Dungey from getting back to his feet.
Dungey flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Dawkins working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Dungey's thigh. Dungey counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Dawkins wants to control from the top but Dungey keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jason Dawkins.
Well Dawkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
