PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ikku Kurokawa (ranked 2048 p4p, 2143 weight class) and Shaun Wallace (ranked 288 p4p, 298 weight class). Wallace has chosen Enter The Chaser as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Shaun Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurokawa throws a leg kick that is checked
and Wallace counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A swing and a miss from Wallace.
Kurokawa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wallace.
Wallace wants to counter with a clinch but Kurokawa pushes him away.
Kurokawa takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A big left from Wallace misses.
Kurokawa takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wallace is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kurokawa.

Kurokawa has been working on his balance at Gym Goroshi London, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Wallace.
Kurokawa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wallace defends well and Kurokawa ends up having to push Wallace into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Wallace feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kurokawas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Wallace has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Kurokawa bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kurokawa lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wallace circles away quickly and effectively.
Kurokawa has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Wallace finds it's way round the side to connect with Kurokawa's head.
Wallace might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kurokawa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wallace pinned against the cage. Wallace gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kurokawa. Wallace does a little dance to reset his feet.

Wallace fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kurokawa on the side of the head.

Shaun Wallace showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kurokawa feints and as Wallace raises his hands in defense, Kurokawa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wallace wants to stand but Kurokawa is controlling the position.
Wallace can't keep his opponent in guard - Kurokawa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Wallace wants to get back to his feet.
Kurokawa slips a nice elbow through Wallace's hands, connecting with Wallace's forehead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kurokawa prevents Wallace from standing back up.
Kurokawa works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kurokawa sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Kurokawa looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Wallace is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Wallace really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kurokawa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kurokawa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wallace is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurokawa drops a big elbow. That's hurt Wallace! More shots from Kurokawa and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
