PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Higanti Libat (ranked 24414 p4p, 25028 weight class) and Wala Sapi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Higanti Libat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wala Sapi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Libat changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sapi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Libat wants to control but Sapi is keeping him busy.
Sapi can't do much from the bottom here.
Libat is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sapi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
What's Sapi going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Sapi can't do much from the bottom here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Libat is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Sapi's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Libat looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Sapi!
Sapi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Libat off and has taken his back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sapi controlling from the back.
Libat just looking to survive in the bad position.
Good control from Sapi.
Sapi gets his hands free as Libat looks to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Libat tries to escape the position.
Libat just trying to survive but Sapi is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Sapi is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
It looks like Sapi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Libat finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Higanti Libat dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sapi shoots in looking for a takedown but Libat manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sapi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sapi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Libat defends well and Sapi ends up having to push Libat into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Libat will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Libat shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Libat was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Libat remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Sapi wants to control but Libat postures up.
Libat controls the position.
You can see the frustration on Sapi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Sapi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Libat off and has taken his back!
Sapi controlling the position well here. Libat rolled but Sapi kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Libat trying to control but not successfully.
Libat wants to get back to his feet.
Sapi controls the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Libat looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Libat is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Libat has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Sapi.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sapi misses with an elbow to the head.
Wala Sapi has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sapi is not going to allow Libat to sit and survive in this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sapi biding his time, looking for the opening.
Libat looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wala Sapi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sapi is defended easily by Libat.
Libat throws a quick counter kick to the body but Sapi avoids it.

Sapi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Libat quickly recovers to half guard.

Libat wants to control but Sapi is keeping busy.
Libat is controlling Sapi's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Still in half guard, Sapi seems content to control.
Libat tries to roll over but Sapi keeps him under control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Sapi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Libat was covering up waiting for the punch and Sapi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Libat is looking to stand back up but Sapi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Libat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Libat tries to roll over but Sapi keeps him under control.
Sapi is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Libat is looking to control Sapi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Libat avoid being mounted?
Libat trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Sapi manages to pass to mount!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sapi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Wala Sapi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sapi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
