Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joanderson Ribeiro (ranked 1953 p4p, 4174 weight class) and Miguel Baez (ranked 216 p4p, 377 weight class). Ribeiro comes into the arena with Tropkillaz-Gorilla blaring out of the sound system. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joanderson Ribeiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miguel Baez!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro tries to close the distance and clinch but Baez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ribeiro uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Baez throws a hook but Ribeiro blocks it.
Joanderson Ribeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Baez as Ribeiro shoots in.
We've been hearing reports that Ribeiro has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Ribeiro misses with a two punch combination.
Baez is looking for the big counter here.
No joy there for Ribeiro, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ribeiro goes for a double leg but Baez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Baez continues to drive forward.
Baez working aggressively here.
Ribeiro has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Baez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joanderson Ribeiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ribeiro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Baez defends it easily.

Ribeiro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Baez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Baez looking to sit in guard and control but Ribeiro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Baez wants to improve his position but Ribeiro is controlling well.
Ribeiro frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Ribeiro is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Baez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Baez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Ribeiro looking to isolate an arm here. Baez doesn't see it coming and as Ribeiro extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Ribeiro!

Joanderson Ribeiro decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
