PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Horley Gore (ranked 1213 p4p, 2177 weight class) and Kung Li (ranked 139 p4p, 222 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Horley Gore!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kung Li!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Li misses with a right hand
and Gore counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Li throws a lazy uppercut
and Gore counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Li thinking.
Gore slips a straight right by Li.
The crowd cheers as Gore lands an impressive looking overhand right. Li doesn't seem phased though.
Gore ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A little feinted left hand from Gore on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Li takes a shot right to the bread basket.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed right hand from Gore misses the target.
Li keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gore walks into a left hand.

It looks like Horley Gore has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gore misses with a hook
and Li connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Li swings widly with a right hand
letting Gore counter with a right hand.
We've been told by Gore's head coaches at Besta-Fera Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Li throws a lazy uppercut
and Gore counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gore loads up on a big right hand but Li slips the punch.
Gore clobbers Li with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gore ducks under a wild hook from Li.
Gore scores with a nice strike.
Gore lands the left hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A combination from Li does no damage.
Li throws an overhand right that lands on Gore's shoulder, as Gore tries to avoid the shot.
Li thows a left - swing and a miss!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gore throws a jab but it's blocked by Li.
Li swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Li might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Gore lands a jab to Li's midsection.
Li throws a poor cross that misses
and Li takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Li takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Kung Li has been cut.
Gore swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Li.
Li steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gore.
A little jabbing left from Li on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Li throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Gore counter with a right hand.
The fighters circling - Li throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gore connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Li momentarily.
Gore throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Li counters with a straight right hand.
Gore misses with a left hand
and Li counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Li misses the target.
Gore swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Li will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gore swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gore throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Li sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Li takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Gore lands the left hand.
Li swings widly with a right hand
and Gore counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gore catches Li with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Li misses with a hook.
Li misses with a straight right.
Gore was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Gore takes a swing at Li's ribcage but misses.
A little jabbing left from Li on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Horley Gore dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Li counters with a crisp one two that drops Gore! Li thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gore to his feet! Gore is in big trouble!

Gore is rocked!
Li throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gore swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Gore jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Gore uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Li.
Gore swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Gore stuns Li with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Li throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Li connects with a combination that backs up Gore into the cage. Li lands a flurry of punches that gets past Gore's guard. Gore is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Li bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kung Li!
Kung Li is the new featherweight champion!
A less than humble Kung Li misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
