Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Messervey (ranked 5081 p4p, 3904 weight class) and Kendall Boone (ranked 567 p4p, 501 weight class). Kendall Boone will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Messervey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kendall Boone! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boone shoots in but Messervey avoids the takedown attempt easily. Messervey pushes Boone up against the cage in a clinch. Messervey softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Boone can't get the takedown.
A shot in the inside from Messervey. Boone tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Messervey just stands there and leans against the cage. Jack Messervey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendall Boone. Boone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Messervey smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boone shoots in for a takedown but Messervey shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Messervey is pressed up against the cage. Boone has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Messervey down to the mat. Messervey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Messervey closes the distance and clinches. Messervey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Messervey pushes Boone up against the cage in a clinch. Boone fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Boone with a lazy takedown attempt and Messervey counters with a nice double leg into side control. Boone won't be happy with that. Jack Messervey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendall Boone. Messervey thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Messervey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Messervey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Boone tries to bench press Messervey off him but Messervey keeps the position. Boone sneaks back into half guard. We've been informed that Boone has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Messervey is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Messervey seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Messervey is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boone can do to turn this around? Boone trying to hold on to Messervey's head to control him but Messervey postures up.

Messervey is working Boone over with some ground and pound from side control. Messervey scoring with punches and elbows. Messervey staying calm. Messervey decides to take the fight back to the feet. Boone misses with a takedown and Messervey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Messervey. Messervey manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Messervey stuffs the takedown attempt from Boone. Boone gets slowly back to his feet. Messervey feinted there with a counter leg kick. Messervey instigates a clinch. Messervey breaks from the clinch.
Boone closes this distance looking for a takedown but Messervey circles away. Jack Messervey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Boone shoots in for a takedown but Messervey shows good takedown defense. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boone. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Messervey has managed to clinch.

Boone changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Messervey fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Messervey for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Messervey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
