PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lusmu Kutvonen (ranked 352 p4p, 459 weight class) and Vadim Golovkin (ranked 18 p4p, 26 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Vadim Golovkin!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Golovkin lands.
Golovkin misses with a kick to the body.

Vadim Golovkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A slow jab from Golovkin misses its intended target.
Golovkin cracks Kutvonen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kutvonen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Golovkin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Golovkin.
Kutvonen tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kutvonen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
We've been hearing reports that Kutvonen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

and Golovkin is countered with a crisp right hand from Kutvonen that sends him to the canvas! Kutvonen follows him to the mat into side control.

Golovkin is rocked!

Kutvonen scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Golovkin is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Kutvonen can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

A relieved looking Lusmu Kutvonen thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
