Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Payette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andre Payette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Lee!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Payette circles away.
Lee shoots for a takedown but Payette saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Payette cracks Lee with a right hand to the side of the head.

Payette shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard.
Lee wants to stand and escape but Payette is having none of it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Lee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lee wants to improve his position but instead Payette has moved into half guard.
Payette thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Payette prevents Lee from improving his position.
Payette thows a huge punch but Lee dodges it nicely.
Payette is thwarting Lee's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lee doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Payette counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lee's knee momentarily.
Payette lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lee circles away quickly and effectively.

Payette gets a takedown into half guard.
Payette works his way into side control.

Payette tries for a kimura but Lee is defending well.
Payette throws a strike aimed at the side of Lee's head but Lee avoids it well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
You can see the frustration on Lee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A lull in the action here.
Payette working the body and head with strikes.
Payette trying to control the position but Lee is working away.
Payette lands a nice forearm strike.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Payette.

Payette working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Payette lands a decent elbow from side control.

Payette looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Payette is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lee dodges the ground and pound from Payette.
Payette in side control, throwing shots but Lee defends.

Payette working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Payette prevents Lee from escaping the position.

Payette is trying to get an arm triangle but Lee is defending well.
Lee is trying to control Payette's posture but Payette avoids it.
Payette tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Lee sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Payette throwing shots but Lee is blocking nicely.
Payette lands with a punch from half guard.

Payette is working for a kimura but Lee is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Payette looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.
Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Payette counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Payette.
Payette landing some decent shots from guard.
Payette postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Payette thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lee is trying to control the position but Payette postures up.

Lee wants to sweep here but Payette controlling him for the moment.

Payette is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Payette throwing strikes but missing.
Payette throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Payette postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Payette. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Payette thows a big elbow that misses.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Payette closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Payette lands in his opponent's guard.

Lee is controlling Payette's posture.
Payette with a flurry of punches that miss.
Andre Payette overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Payette drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Payette jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lee wants to sweep here but Payette controlling him for the moment.
Payette content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Lee is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lee is breathing heavily.
Payette passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Payette is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lee is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Lee is looking for a sweep.
Payette looks up at the clock and then as Lee takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Payette smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Payette creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lee sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Payette has an Americana. Lee didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Payette is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Payette hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Andre Payette!
