This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 13 losses; Jaro Lalla! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 10 losses; Ace Rob!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Rob bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Lalla (0) vs (4) Rob
Lalla is looking for a sweep.
Lalla is not content to let Rob control the position.
Rob tries to advance to mount but can't.
Lalla tries to improve position but can't.
Rob has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Advanced Fighting Systems. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lalla is working hard here to advance position.
Rob is looking to take a break and control but Lalla is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lalla tries to buck Rob off but Rob is having none of it.

Rob wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lalla keeps working.
Lalla is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Rob content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Lalla tries to get to full guard but Rob has control of the leg.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rob sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Lalla gets back to half guard.
Lalla is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rob's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rob's back!

Rob tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Rob defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lalla.
Rob tries to hold on but Lalla postures up.

Lalla looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Rob manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Rob regains full guard. Nicely done.

Rob working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lalla doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lalla manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rob has Lalla pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rob tries to free his leg and advance position but Lalla is retaining full guard.

Lalla has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rob can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rob trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rob passes Lalla's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lalla is pressing down on Rob's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Lalla working for a triangle but Rob defends it easily.
We've been hearing good reports from Lalla's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Rob avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rob advances to half guard.
Rob wants to control but Lalla is keeping him busy.
Rob tries to pass to full mount but Lalla defends it.
Rob is keen to just control but Lalla is a slippery customer.
Lalla tries to roll over but Rob keeps him under control.
Rob uses his free foot to push down on Lalla's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lalla.

Lalla is trying desperately to improve position.

Rob content just to control the position here.
Lalla really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rob is looking to work his way around to Lalla's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Lalla tries to improve his position but Rob has taken his back! Rob has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Lalla tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Rob pushes Lalla away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ace Rob!
