PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shichiroji San (ranked 529 p4p, 624 weight class) and Guilherme Godoi (ranked 72 p4p, 95 weight class). San comes to the cage accompanied by Seven Samurai. Guilherme Godoi will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Godoi lands a slapping body shot.
Godoi looks to land a left hand but San moved out of range nicely.
San throws a leg kick which misses Godoi's front leg but catches the back leg as Godoi tries to avoid it.

San drives through and clinches with Godoi against the cage.
Godoi avoiding damage as San throws knees to the body.
San lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Godoi has a couple of punches blocked by San.

San goes for a takedown attempt but Godoi pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

San tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Godoi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A little jabbing left from Godoi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Godoi lands a big right hand that sends San crashing to the mat! Godoi stays standing though and waves San back to his feet!
Oh San is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
San fails with an attempt to clinch.

Godoi sends San crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Godoi is motioning to the referee to let San up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
San attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

and Godoi counters with a lovely shot to the body.

San tries to score a power double leg takedown but Godoi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten San somewhat.
Godoi throws out a counter right but San avoids it with no problem.
San seems to have got his legs back now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shichiroji San. That's going to take a lot out of him.

San tries to clinch but Godoi moves away
and Godoi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps San thinking.

Godoi lands a nice hook to San's body. San takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Godoi uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before San has time to react.

Godoi cracks San with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Godoi has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning San to stand back up!
Godoi is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! San had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
San throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Godoi counters with a nice right hand that sends San toppling to the canvas! San scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Godoi finish him?!
San tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Godoi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Godoi throws out a counter right but San avoids it with no problem.
San gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Godoi scores with a counter punch that sends San to the canvas! Godoi smells blood - he's punishing San with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! San has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
