Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nakagome Kakuzo!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Kakuzo saw that one coming.
Kakuzo with a jab.
Johnson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kakuzo staying out of range there.
Johnson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

It looks like Nakagome Kakuzo has been cut.
Johnson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
An attempted straight right counter from Johnson misses the target.
Kakuzo misses with a body punch
and Johnson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A combination from Johnson does no damage.
Kakuzo throws a big shot that misses.
Kakuzo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kakuzo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Johnson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johnson throws a jab but it's blocked by Kakuzo.

Johnson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kakuzo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kakuzo walks into a left hand.
Johnson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
A telegraphed right hand from Johnson misses the target.
Johnson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Johnson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kakuzo dives in and grabs Johnson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes down on Kakuzo's head and hops out.

Jason Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nakagome Kakuzo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kakuzo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Johnson has cracked Kakuzo with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Johnson lands another huge swinging hook and Kakuzo tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Kakuzo, before Johnson can land any more shots!

In his post fight interview, Jason Johnson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
