Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Butcher (ranked 24635 p4p, 24504 weight class) and Timazini Soltvedt (ranked 567 p4p, 561 weight class). Soltvedt is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I'm Gay (I'm Blue Cover). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Butcher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Timazini Soltvedt! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Butcher moves into the clinch. Butcher creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Soltvedt's defenses.
It looks like Timazini Soltvedt has been cut. Soltvedt pulls Butcher into guard.
Butcher controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Soltvedt can do anything to dispel that myth. Butcher stops Soltvedt from standing up. Butcher definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. That's one minute gone in the round. Butcher shoots in for a takedown but Soltvedt shows good takedown defense. Soltvedt blocks a head kick by Butcher.
Soltvedt closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Butcher to the mat! Butcher manages to get full guard. Butcher is looking to stand up but Soltvedt isn't so interested in that idea. Soltvedt with a nice head shot there. Soltvedt throws a big right hand that misses. Butcher trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Butcher has his foot on Soltvedt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Soltvedt works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Soltvedt stops Butcher from standing up. Soltvedt must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Butcher is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Soltvedt dives into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Butcher wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Butcher striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Soltvedt looks up at the clock and then as Butcher takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Soltvedt smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

This has been an exciting period of action! Butcher is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Butcher misses with a strike from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Butcher is pushing Soltvedt's head away, looking to escape. Soltvedt manages to hold on to the position though. Soltvedt working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Butcher pushes Soltvedt away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Soltvedt gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Butcher tries to bench press Soltvedt off him but Soltvedt keeps the position. Soltvedt decides to stand back up. Soltvedt steps back and let's Butcher get back to his feet. Butcher clinches up against the cage. Butcher is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Soltvedt is looking to break free of the clinch but Butcher has double underhooks. Butcher slowing the pace effectively. Butcher misses with an elbow over the top. Butcher lands a nice elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Butcher lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Butcher creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Soltvedt's defenses. A nice glancing elbow lands by Butcher. Soltvedt jumps guard but Butcher turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Butcher comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Soltvedt takes an elbow to the forehead.

That has opened up Timazini Soltvedt's cut even more. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Butcher's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Soltvedt is still on wobbly legs! Can Butcher finish him? Butcher rushes Soltvedt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Butcher creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Butcher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Soltvedt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Butcher misses with a takedown attempt - Soltvedt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Butcher fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Soltvedt, pushing him back against the cage. Butcher pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Butcher throws an elbow but it misses.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Butcher pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Soltvedt has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Butcher seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Soltvedt can turn it around. Here we go, back to the action! Butcher tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Soltvedt paws at him with a jab and circles away. Butcher throws a head kick but Soltvedt moves out of range.
Whack! Butcher lands a heavy head kick that drops Soltvedt. The ref tackles Butcher to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Soltvedt was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Chris Butcher! An out of breath Chris Butcher thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. In defeat, Timazini Soltvedt stepped up to the mic, saying 'I played World of Warcraft instead of training for this fight. '.
