PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Hevel (ranked 1536 p4p, 2879 weight class) and Trayvon Lewis (ranked 197 p4p, 352 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Hevel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trayvon Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Lewis misses with a body shot
and Hevel counters with a straight right hand.
A low kick from Hevel misses

and Lewis counters with a takedown into side control.
Lewis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hevel keeps working.

Lewis is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hevel knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hevel for a finish.

Lewis lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Hevel is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lewis gets his way!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lewis looking to break Hevel's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hevel remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Lewis will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

You can see the frustration on Hevel's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Lewis has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Hevel is defending well but eventually Lewis manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Hevel has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Trayvon Lewis!
