The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marius shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Battuga counters by clinching up.
Battuga is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Marius is defending well.

Battuga breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Battuga is defended easily by Marius.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Battuga shoots in and drives through. Marius sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ardahan Battuga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Battuga misses with an attempted mid kick.
Battuga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marius tries to avoid it but Battuga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marius to the ground. Marius escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Marius manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Battuga on his heels. He'll look to pass Battuga's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Marius lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Battuga wants to get back to his feet but Marius is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
