Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Pfanne (ranked 3716 p4p, 3881 weight class) and Chaz Popizicki (ranked 416 p4p, 429 weight class). Chaz Popizicki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brad Pfanne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chaz Popizicki! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pfanne pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Pfanne looks to land a right hand but Popizicki moved out of range. Popizicki throws the left hand but Pfanne avoids the punch easily. Pfanne misses with a looping left. We've been hearing reports that Pfanne has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Pfanne takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Pfanne uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Popizicki. Pfanne shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Popizicki sprawls well. Popizicki wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pfanne gets slowly back to his feet. The crowd cheers as Popizicki lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pfanne doesn't seem phased though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Popizicki with a nice cross. Pfanne shoots in looking for a takedown but Popizicki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pfanne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Pfanne will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Pfanne. That's going to take a lot out of him. Popizicki cracks Pfanne with a good jab. Pfanne closes this distance looking for a takedown but Popizicki circles away. Popizicki changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pfanne blocks a jab. Popizicki fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pfanne to the ground. Popizicki is now in Pfanne's guard. Popizicki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Popizicki looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pfanne knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Popizicki on the ground. Pfanne avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pfanne is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Popizicki wants to control from the top but Pfanne keeps moving. Popizicki won't allow Pfanne to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Popizicki stands up over Pfanne, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Popizicki wants to pass the guard but Pfanne is keeping the position. Popizicki looking to sit in guard and control but Pfanne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pfanne missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Popizicki wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Pfanne is now in half guard. Pfanne is nestled in close to Popizicki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Popizicki manages to get to full guard.
Popizicki lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pfanne looking for a sweep. Not yet Pfanne, not yet. Popizicki sitting in guard, not really doing much. Popizicki wants to control from the top but Pfanne keeps moving. Popizicki with a flurry of punches that miss. Pfanne trying to control the position.
Popizicki drops back looking for a leg! Pfanne is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pfanne manages to kick Popizicki off! Popizicki jumps back into Pfanne's guard. Popizicki postures up in Pfanne's guard and throws a big left but Pfanne blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pfanne looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Popizicki puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Pfanne is looking to escape. Pfanne tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Popizicki has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Popizicki looking to control but Pfanne is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Pfanne is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Popizicki landing strikes from the mount. Pfanne slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Popizicki seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Pfanne is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
