Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Alexander (ranked 5851 p4p, 6213 weight class) and Giorgi Gelashvili (ranked 565 p4p, 592 weight class). Alexander comes to the cage accompanied by "Land of Confusion" by Disturbed. Jon Alexander could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Giorgi Gelashvili's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Alexander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Giorgi Gelashvili! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alexander instigates a clinch. Gelashvili blocking some punches.
Alexander is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gelashvili is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Alexander to the mat. Alexander regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Alexander has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Gelashvili is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Gelashvili looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Alexander lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Gelashvili avoids a wild elbow strike from Alexander. Alexander has a couple of punches blocked by Gelashvili.
Gelashvili wants to take the fight to the mat but Alexander manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Alexander misses with some punches.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alexander unloads a knee to the mid-section. Alexander tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gelashvili's elbow. Gelashvili blocks an uppercut.

Alexander throws a head punch that misses. Gelashvili is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Gelashvili works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Alexander keeping full guard, as Gelashvili tries to pass. Gelashvili is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gelashvili stops Alexander from standing up. Alexander being controlled here, momentarily. Gelashvili looking to pass the guard. Gelashvili passes Alexander's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gelashvili controlling the pace. Gelashvili working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gelashvili's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Gelashvili is looking to advance position but Alexander won't allow it. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gelashvili in particular looking to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gelashvili gets the takedown into side control. Gelashvili advances to full mount. Alexander is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Gelashvili has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. More stalling from Gelashvili. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jon Alexander will probably get the nod. That's time! Alexander's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Gelashvili throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alexander was covering up waiting for the punch and Gelashvili finishes the takedown easily into guard. Gelashvili is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Gelashvili stops Alexander from standing up. Gelashvili stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alexander swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gelashvili forces his way into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gelashvili tries to pass to full mount but Alexander defends it. Gelashvili with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gelashvili stops Alexander from getting back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alexander is looking to escape. Gelashvili controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gelashvili looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gelashvili slows the pace down in half guard. Alexander tries to get to full guard but Gelashvili has control of the leg. Alexander won't allow Gelashvili to pass to mount. Well, if Gelashvili is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Alexander throws a head kick but Gelashvili moves out of range.
Alexander has closed the distance and engaged Gelashvili in a clinch.
Gelashvili can't get the takedown.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Giorgi Gelashvili showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Gelashvili fails with a takedown attempt. Alexander throws a sloppy head kick and Gelashvili counters with a shoot takedown. Alexander fights it but they end up in guard. Alexander is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Giorgi Gelashvili has got the better of the ground game so far. Alexander trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Gelashvili slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Gelashvili is standing up over Alexander. Alexander looks to escape but Gelashvili dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Alexander is trying desperately to improve position. Gelashvili has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gelashvili content just to control the position here. Alexander really wants to buck Gelashvili off and get back to his feet. Gelashvili sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight! Giorgi Gelashvili comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Gelashvili has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
