Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jayden James (ranked 23676 p4p, 23555 weight class) and Chief Waterfall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chief Waterfall has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jayden James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chief Waterfall!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waterfall moves into the clinch successfully.
James is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Waterfall gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Waterfall lands on the inside with an uppercut.

James is working for takedown but Waterfall is calmly controlling the position for now.

Waterfall has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics James uses from the top position.

James drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Waterfall dives on top into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Waterfall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James has his foot on Waterfall's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Waterfall works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like Waterfall might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Waterfall's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

James is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Waterfall defends well.
Waterfall controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

James isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Waterfall stacks James on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Waterfall!

Waterfall sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Waterfall tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Waterfall on the ground.
Let's hope that Waterfall has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Waterfall thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Waterfall throws some wild stikes that James manages to avoid easily.
Waterfall has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
James tries to reverse the position but Waterfall maintains control.

Waterfall misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Waterfall is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. James can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Waterfall has control of James's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and James regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Waterfall wants to stand but James is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Waterfall tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but James defends well and Waterfall ends up having to push James into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Waterfall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Waterfall's legs - danger averted.
Waterfall wants to get back to his feet but James is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Waterfall sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed James's guard.

That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Waterfall tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.

Waterfall closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Waterfall pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Waterfall dives in for a single leg takedown but James sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Waterfall has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as James is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Waterfall works over James's head and body with a nice combination.
Nice takedown defense from James. No joy for Waterfall on that attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Waterfall gets control of James's arms and successfully pulls guard. Waterfall will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Waterfall is on top in guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Chief Waterfall is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Waterfall in particular looking to stall.

Well Waterfall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
