PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Moctesuma Khan (ranked 4332 p4p, 2880 weight class) and Tater Tater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Moctesuma Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tater Tater!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tater manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Khan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Khan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tater wants to sweep here but Khan controlling him for the moment.
Khan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Khan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tater is trying to control the position but Khan postures up.
Tater working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Khan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Tater has momentary wrist control but Khan slips an elbow through the middle.
Khan controlling from the top position.
Khan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Khan is working Tater over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Tater is rocked!

It looks like Tater Tater has been cut.
Khan prevents Tater from getting back to his feet.
Tater is trying to control the position but Khan postures up.
Khan stops Tater from standing up.
Khan showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Tater thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Khan landing some decent shots from guard.
Khan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Khan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Khan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tater for as long as he can get away with.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tater looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Khan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tater trying to keep a closed guard but Khan is proving a slippery customer.

Khan is looking to stand up but Tater won't let him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Tater fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Khan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tater can do anything to dispel that myth.
Khan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Khan moves nicely into side control.
Tater sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Khan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tater with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Tater looks winded!
Tater wants to control but Khan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Khan decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Khan misses with a two punch combination.

Tater scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khan keeping hold of Tater's head, controlling as best he can.
Khan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Khan is trying is best to control the position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Khan tries to get to full guard but Tater has control of the leg.
Khan is controlling Tater's position as best he can from this difficult position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Moctesuma Khan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tater Tater's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Tater tries to sprawl but Khan drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Tater manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Khan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tater can do to turn this around?
Khan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tater drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Khan defends it well.
Khan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tater.
Khan sets himself, and Tater steps forward looking for the clinch! Khan avoids it this time.
Khan closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khan looks for a takedown but Tater sprawls well.
Khan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tater circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Moctesuma Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tater defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khan.
Khan fails with a takedown attempt.

Tater gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tater looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khan is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tater trying to control the position.
Tater might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Khan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Moctesuma Khan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Khan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tater works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Tater looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khan is one step ahead there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Khan is stalling in the full guard.
Khan lands a couple of elbows.
Khan lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Khan wanted to stand there but Tater had control of the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tater is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Khan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Khan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Khan postures up and lands a big shot to Tater's brow.
Tater is still in real trouble! Can Khan finish him?
Khan connects with a couple of short punches.
Khan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Khan stands up over Tater, holding on to his feet. Khan throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Tater is out cold! Khan lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Moctesuma Khan!
An out of breath Moctesuma Khan thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
