PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24668 p4p, 24598 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 23 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Bitok scores with a takedown into Buktot's guard.
Bitok content to stall in guard here.
Buktot trying to control the position here.
Bitok stays in close to Buktot's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot pulls Bitok in to control the position.

Buktot working a defensive guard but Bitok passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buktot is trying to control but can't.
Buktot is concentrating on defense, preventing Bitok from advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Buktot looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bitok takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Bitok flicks out a counter leg kick but Buktot steps away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Horrible takedown attempt by Bitok or perhaps it was just good defense by Buktot, which made it look bad.

Bitok changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Buktot looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Bitok tries to score with some ground and pound. Buktot controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

You can see the frustration on Buktot's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bitok postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Bitok postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bitok shoots in for a double leg but Buktot sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Buktot is looking to counter with a body kick.
Buktot throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bitok's waist but Bitok gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Buktot off to one side.
Bitok steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Bitok tries for a takedown but Buktot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kulata Bitok.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bitok closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Buktot's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Buktot fails with the takedown.
Bitok appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown but Bitok manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Buktot's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bitok is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Buktot with a body shot.
Bitok closes the distance and clinches up with Buktot, looking for a takedown. Bitok pushes Buktot against the cage but Buktot circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bitok showed some decent athleticism there.
Buktot is positioning himself well to prevent Bitok advancing to mount.

Bitok has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bitok is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Bitok is continuing to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nice takedown defense from Bitok. No joy for Buktot on that attempt.
Bitok follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bitok fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buktot avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Buktot tries to sprawl but Bitok drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Buktot has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bitok is working away from the top position though.

Still in half guard, Bitok seems content to control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Buktot gets a double leg takedown into Bitok's guard.
Buktot wants to control from the top but Bitok keeps moving.
Buktot controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bitok keeping moving, preventing Buktot from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Buktot won't allow Bitok to sweep him here.

Bitok has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Buktot slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bitok shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buktot defends it nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Buktot.
Bitok throws a fast counter high kick but Buktot manages to duck under it in time.

Bitok feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bitok not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

I would just about give that final round to Kulata Bitok.
Well Bitok has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
