Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Malik El Shabazz (ranked 729 p4p, 1366 weight class) and Dougie McFistface (ranked 95 p4p, 186 weight class). McFistface has chosen Tiptoe Through The Tulips as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dougie McFistface!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Ben Watson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

El Shabazz clinches.
El Shabazz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
McFistface wants a takedown but no success here.
McFistface is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but El Shabazz is defending well.
McFistface jumps guard but El Shabazz turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
McFistface told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Malik El Shabazz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dougie McFistface.
El Shabazz controlling the action here for a moment.

McFistface gets control of El Shabazz's arms and successfully pulls guard. McFistface will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

El Shabazz throws a strike but McFistface rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

El Shabazz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
El Shabazz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

McFistface gets to his feet - El Shabazz follows without any prompting.

El Shabazz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

McFistface tries to land knees in the clinch but El Shabazz avoids the damage to the body.
El Shabazz blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

El Shabazz is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McFistface is defending well for now.

El Shabazz manages to break the clinch.
McFistface takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
El Shabazz cracks McFistface with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

El Shabazz pushes McFistface up against the cage in a clinch.

McFistface has El Shabazz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McFistface pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending El Shabazz tumbling to the mat - McFistface dives into El Shabazz's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now El Shabazz is on top in guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
El Shabazz tries to free his leg and advance position but McFistface is retaining full guard.

El Shabazz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McFistface is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McFistface has escaped and now he's on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
El Shabazz controls McFistface momentarily but McFistface frees himself.
McFistface working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

McFistface is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but El Shabazz has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. McFistface is looking to defend but El Shabazz has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for McFistface! El Shabazz pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, McFistface taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Malik El Shabazz!
Malik El Shabazz decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
