Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Callaghan Iii (ranked 6105 p4p, 24391 weight class) and Lars Phantom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Callaghan Iii!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lars Phantom!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phantom rushes Callaghan Iii and presses him up against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Callaghan Iii fails to land.
Callaghan Iii gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Phantom.

Callaghan Iii has picked Phantom up - he's going for a ride! Callaghan Iii dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Phantom tries to pass the half guard into mount. Callaghan Iii knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Phantom seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Callaghan Iii has hold of Phantom's hands but Phantom slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Phantom takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Phantom lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Callaghan Iii wants to improve his position but Phantom is controlling well.

Phantom jumps guard and drags Callaghan Iii to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Callaghan Iii drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Callaghan Iii jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Phantom stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Callaghan Iii swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Phantom is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Callaghan Iii has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Phantom can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Phantom instigates a clinch.

Phantom has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Callaghan Iii regains guard immediately.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Callaghan Iii swings wildly with an uppercut but Phantom uses good head movement to avoid it.
Phantom lands an elbow that stopped Callaghan Iii in his tracks for a moment.

It looks like Andrew Callaghan Iii has been cut.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Phantom.

Phantom is pushing Callaghan Iii up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Phantom has clasped his hands together around Callaghan Iii's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Andrew Callaghan Iii.
I think Phantom has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
