Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hero Primo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Beardsley!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Primo throws a nice looking combination but Beardsley bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A jab lands there for Beardsley.
Primo throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Beardsley.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Beardsley! But no joy.
Primo misses with an attempted mid kick.
It seemed like Beardsley was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Beardsley punishes Primo's body with a nice straight punch.
Beardsley tries to clinch up but Primo circles away and keeps his distance.
Primo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Beardsley holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Beardsley lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Beardsley decides to pull guard.
Beardsley pulls Primo in close to prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Beardsley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Primo defends it easily.
Primo postures up.
Beardsley keeping moving, preventing Primo from controlling successfully.

Beardsley is looking for a triangle but Primo pushes his legs off easily.
Primo trying to control the position from guard on top but Beardsley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Beardsley is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Primo is aware though and is defending well.

Beardsley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Primo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Beardsley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Primo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Primo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Primo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Beardsley is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Primo has his hands clasped together but Beardsley extends and breaks Primo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Beardsley.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Peter Beardsley!
Peter Beardsley decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
