PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cohen Lee (ranked 4403 p4p, 4390 weight class) and Zach Torma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cohen Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zach Torma!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee stuffs the takedown attempt from Torma. Torma gets slowly back to his feet.

Lee throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Torma tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lee is in Torma's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee passes Torma's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Torma is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lee thows a huge punch but Torma dodges it nicely.
Torma keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Torma is positioning himself well to prevent Lee advancing to mount.
Lee trying to control the action but Torma is working from the bottom.
Torma looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee is controlling the pace.
Torma tries to kick Lee off but Lee keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Torma is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Torma is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Torma really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lee trying to control from half guard but Torma is working away.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Torma is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lee avoids the head kick by Torma.

Lee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Torma looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ground and pound from Lee seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Lee wants to control but Torma is keeping him busy.
Torma holding on.
Lee happy to just control the position for now.
Lee looks up at the clock and then as Torma takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lee smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Lee is looking to take a break and control but Torma is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lee is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Torma knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Torma can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee trying to control the position but Torma is working away.
Torma trying to control but Lee flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Lee scores with punches from the back.
Torma wants to get back to his feet.
Lee is working the ground and pound. Can Torma escape?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Even with his hooks in, Lee manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Torma looking very determined here, making life difficult for Lee.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cohen Lee dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Torma avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Torma shoots for a takedown but Lee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Torma fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lee on the side of the head.
Lee tries to clinch but Torma is having none of it.
Torma throws a fast counter high kick but Lee manages to duck under it in time.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but Torma shows good takedown defense.

Torma has closed the distance and engaged Lee in a clinch.
Torma wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Torma dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Torma has Lee pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lee manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Lee is trying to pull guard but Torma turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Torma misses with an elbow over the top.

Lee doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Lee breaks from the clinch.

Lee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Torma's half guard.

Torma kicks off Lee and gets to his feet.
Torma circles away from the clinch attempt.

Torma shoots in and bounces Lee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lee is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Torma frees his head nicely. Oh but Lee has switched to an armbar! Torma is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
