Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Fochi (ranked 2072 p4p, 2131 weight class) and Tyson Asakura (ranked 270 p4p, 275 weight class). Asakura has chosen JJBA - Giorno's Theme as his entrance music. Tyson Asakura will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Fochi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Asakura!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asakura waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Fochi.
Fochi slips a jab from Asakura.

Asakura misses with the combination.

Fochi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fochi moves into full mount!
Asakura can't escape the position.

Fochi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Asakura is surviving well by controlling Fochi's body position as best he can.
Asakura stops Fochi from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Asakura wants to control but Fochi is having none of it.

Fochi mounts Asakura! Really nice guard pass there!

Asakura is squirming around, avoiding Fochi's attempts to control the action.
Fochi avoids the attempt from Asakura to control.
Fochi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Asakura is looking to escape.
Fochi wants to take Asakura's back here but Asakura is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fochi takes Asakura's back.

Fochi is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Asakura is defending well though. Fochi let's go of the attempt for now.

Fochi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Asakura is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fochi is trying to stick to Asakura's back but Asakura is turning into Fochi. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Fochi's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Asakura.

Fochi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Asakura postures up in Fochi's guard and throws a big left but Fochi blocks it.

Asakura is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fochi tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Asakura wants to control from the top but Fochi keeps moving.
Fochi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Asakura manages to get himself to full guard.

Fochi is pushing down on Asakura's leg trying to pass to half guard. Asakura is fighting to maintain full guard but Fochi has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fochi wants to pass the guard but Asakura is defending well.

Fochi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Asakura is just riding it out for now. Fochi eventually gives up the hold.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Fochi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Asakura throws a leg kick which misses Fochi's front leg but catches the back leg as Fochi tries to avoid it.

Asakura tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Fochi misses with a two punch combination.

and Fochi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Fochi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fochi stalling.

Fochi is trying to control. Asakura wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Fochi controlling the action here.
Asakura won't allow Fochi to pass to mount.
Michael Fochi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Asakura is in trouble now - Fochi has advanced to mount!
Fochi trying to control but Asakura is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Asakura is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Fochi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Asakura is now in Fochi's guard. A big mistake from Fochi there, giving up the dominant position!

Fochi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Asakura doesn't defend quickly enough and Fochi has managed to lock this one up! Can Asakura escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Fochi on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Michael Fochi!
