Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Slater (ranked 1580 p4p, 1347 weight class) and Akira Kaburagi (ranked 218 p4p, 197 weight class). Johnny Slater could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Akira Kaburagi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Slater! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Akira Kaburagi! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaburagi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slaters jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Kaburagi with a hook. Kaburagi misses with a leg kick. Kaburagi jabs Slater to the body, keeping him at a distance. Kaburagi looks to land a right hand but Slater moved out of range. It looked like Slater was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kaburagi. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kaburagi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. A slow jab from Kaburagi misses its intended target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kaburagi is looking to clinch. Slater appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Kaburagi throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Slater counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
 It looks like Akira Kaburagi has been cut. Kaburagi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slater manages to avoid it. Slater drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kaburagi sprawls and moves away.

Kaburagi clinches up with Slater and pushes him back against the cage. Kaburagi fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kaburagi throws a punch but it's blocked by Slater. Kaburagi managing to block the knees to the body from Slater.
We've been hearing reports that Slater has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A short right from Slater on the inside. A short left from Slater.
Slater gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kaburagi regains guard.
Slater stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kaburagi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Slater pushes down on Kaburagi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Slater landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Slater will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Slater lands a nice short elbow. Kaburagi won't allow Slater to pass to mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kaburagi is looking for a sweep. Slater is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Slater winds up and cracks Kaburagi with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaburagi is not content to let Slater control the position. Slater looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kaburagi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Kaburagi gets full guard. Slater working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Kaburagi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Slater manages to get himself to full guard.

No damage this time. Kaburagi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slater swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater tries to land a sweep but no joy. Slater is adopting a defensive guard. Kaburagi trying to control but Slater is working from the bottom. Kaburagi won't allow Slater to sweep him here. Kaburagi being controlled here momentarily. Slater's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Kaburagi throws a strike but Slater rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Kaburagi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Slater working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Slater lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Slater lands a couple of elbows. Slater working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Slater landing some decent shots from guard. Slater chips away with some ground and pound. Slater stands up over Kaburagi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Slater working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kaburagi's head. Slater seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kaburagi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Slater defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slater wants to control from the top but Kaburagi keeps moving. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaburagi throws the left hand but Slater avoids the punch easily. Slater thinks about countering with a head kick. A telegraphed right hand from Kaburagi misses the target. Slater throwing a counter right hand but Kaburagi manages to avoid it. Akira Kaburagi seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kaburagi sizes up Slater with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Kaburagi swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Slater. Slater slips under a jab. Kaburagi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slater tries to avoid it but Kaburagi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slater to the ground. Slater escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Slater counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kaburagi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Slater lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Slater trying to pass the guard but Kaburagi defending well. Kaburagi tries to get to full guard but Slater has control of the leg. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Slater scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Slater slips a nice elbow through Kaburagi's hands, connecting with Kaburagi's forehead. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Slater working over Kaburagi with some ground and pound. Kaburagi looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Akira Kaburagi will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Akira Kaburagi's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Kaburagi throws a nice looking combination but Slater bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. An attempted straight right counter from Slater misses the target. Slater swats away the attempt to clinch by Kaburagi. Slater throwing a counter right hand but Kaburagi manages to avoid it. Slater ducks under a wild hook from Kaburagi. A counter left hand to the body from Slater misses its target. Kaburagi attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kaburagi gets the takedown into side control. Slater is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Slater parries the strikes from Kaburagi easily there. Kaburagi is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Slater to escape.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kaburagi in side control, throwing shots but Slater defends. Kaburagi in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Slater struggling a bit here. Slater trying his best to control but Kaburagi has mounted him. Kaburagi cracks Slater with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaburagi connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaburagi prevents Slater from getting the reversal. Kaburagi trying to control but Slater is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaburagi jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle�. Ooooh, that looks tight� Slater is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Slater and Kaburagi has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Slater stops Kaburagi from passing to mount. Slater is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Slater is looking to improve his position.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Kaburagi working over Slater with some ground and pound. Slater looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kaburagi scoring with strikes to the body and head. Slater keeps control of the position for the meantime. Kaburagi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Kaburagi trying to control from half guard but Slater is working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kaburagi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Akira Kaburagi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Kaburagi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
