Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Slater (ranked 1580 p4p, 1347 weight class) and Akira Kaburagi (ranked 218 p4p, 197 weight class). Johnny Slater could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Akira Kaburagi's chin.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaburagi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slaters jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

It looked like Slater was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kaburagi.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kaburagi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

We've been hearing reports that Slater has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Slater gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kaburagi regains guard.
Slater stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kaburagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
