The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pletnev stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pletnev wants it to stay on the feet.

Pletnev unleashes a big counter combination but Payne bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Payne is working Pletnev over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pletnev wants to sweep here but Payne controlling him for the moment.
Willy Payne overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pletnev has momentary wrist control but Payne slips an elbow through the middle.

Pletnev is still in real trouble! Can Payne finish him?
Payne loads up on a big left hand. Pletnev felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Payne looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Pletnev can't hide his disappointment, as Payne celebrates the victory.

Willy Payne tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
