PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wout Meese (ranked 5420 p4p, 4164 weight class) and Owen Tooogood (ranked 541 p4p, 479 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meese takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Meese fails with the takedown

and Tooogood counters by clinching up.
Tooogood prevents the takedown attempt.
Meese tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tooogood just stands there and leans against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meese sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Tooogood is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Meese moves to his opponent's back but Tooogood bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Meese.

Tooogood gets to his feet. Meese looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Tooogood swats away the attempt to clinch by Meese.

Tooogood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meese swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Meese makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Tooogood shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tooogood was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Meese sneaks out the side door and pushes Tooogood away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
