This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 11 losses; Gotan Wasselach! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 10 losses; John Doe! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wasselach fails with a takedown attempt. Doe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've been informed that Doe has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Wasselach gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wasselach tries to score a body lock takedown but Doe shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gotan Wasselach. Wasselach is trying to drag Doe to the mat but Doe just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Wasselach is doing well to control the position and prevent Doe from advancing to side control. Doe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wasselach keeps working.

Doe stays in close to Wasselach's body and controls the position. Wasselach is looking to sweep but instead, Doe has passed into half guard.

Score +3 for passing guard: Wasselach (0) vs (15) Doe Wasselach tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Doe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Doe wants to control but Wasselach is keeping him busy.

Let's hope that Doe has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Wasselach sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Wasselach is looking to improve his position.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Wasselach slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Doe trying to control the position from guard on top but Wasselach is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doe passes into half guard. Doe is trying to control the action in half guard but Wasselach is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Doe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Wasselach haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Wasselach is looking for a sweep. Doe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Wasselach is holding on to half guard well. Doe controlling the action here. Wasselach wants to get back to full guard. Doe is keen to just control but Wasselach is a slippery customer. Wasselach is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Wasselach has a hand on Doe's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Doe takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
